Promoting Your Commercial Real Estate Service(s)

Add

Commercial real estate professionals believe in the service they sell. Many believe that they offer the very best commercial real estate service available in their area (although unfortunately in most instances that’s not the case). In order to let others know about the terrific commercial real estate services you provide, you must promote yourself and your service. Promoting your business isn’t optional. The upside is there are many ways to promote your services. And the best part, you don’t have to be a professional public relations or marketing expert, or even have a big budget to do it! You just need a plan.

If you get a great idea for promoting your business by all means go for it; strike while the creativity is there. But for long-term success, you’ll need a marketing plan that spans over a year or more.

Several steps go into developing a plan for success:

  1. Do your research – Determine what marketing strategies are available and which ones have worked for the Top Producers. For example, if you know your colleague has been extremely successful with placing his listings on Craigslist then perhaps this is a strategy to consider. Make a list of possibilities.

  2. Next, determine specifically which strategies you’ll use. For example, you may decide that a newsletter, weekly eblasts, monthly postcards, being a member of a leads group like BNI, and warm calls will work best for you. It’s best to use multiple strategies at the same time. Don’t forget to ask your prospects how they found out about you and your commercial real estate service – this will guide your marketing activities in the future.

  3. Write out the details of how you will execute each strategy. DON’T SKIP THIS PART. Write out each step of the strategy so you can execute it without any glitches, BEFORE you spend time and money on the strategy.

  4. Determine the cost, if any.

  5. Set approximate dates for launching each marketing strategy – a timeline.

  6. EXECUTE – This is where you’re liable to fall short – DON’T!

Good luck with your marketing. But before I go, let me share a secret with you – DELEGATE. If possible, delegate as many marketing activities as you possibly can – you’ll get more done that way!
